About the Event
Greetings and welcome to Berlin Stoics!
It might be almost freezing and not even November yet, but that shouldn't stop us from enjoying the fresh air and a walk through nature! We'll meet by Maxway Coffee in Moabit at Kirchstr. 2 - there's a series of three cafés at that corner and we'll start by each of us taking a coffee or tea to go. Feel free to bring your own if you prefer! I'll / Steve will be wearing a black winter coat with a black-and-gray scarf. At the latest 14:15 or fifteen minutes past our meeting point, we'll walk over to the Tiergarten to walk and talk about our Stoic interests and experiences.
Make sure to dress warm and be prompt! If you are running late or think you will make it just at or near 14:15, please contact Steve at firstname.lastname@example.org or comment underneath the meetup event.
This week is Stoic Week, which is a week of organized courses and events by the Modern Stoicism organization. So we'd thought of scheduling a meetup locally for ourselves. We'll begin by introducing ourselves to each other and share our experiences with and interests in Stoicism or philosophy generally. Past that point, we discuss in more detail what Stoicism is all about with some food for thought via Stoic principles, Socratic dialogue from Stoic perspectives, Stoic trivia, and perhaps other games, prompts, or other means of engagement. We'll be slow walking the whole time to keep our blood pumping. Don't mind if we end up sometimes engaged in a conversation with others insulated from the rest of the group - conversation is the point!
Please bring either: proof of vaccination or proof of having recovered from COVID-19 within the last six months (2G). Masks are not required except for the café. We must also keep a safe distance from each other as we walk, especially as the group gets large. These regulations come from the Berlin Maßnahmen at https://www.berlin.de/corona/massnahmen/sport-und-freizeit/. Keep in mind that, while friends or family can gather outside at their own discretion, organizations or hosts of events or groups like this one must ascribe to the 2G rule which means a proof of a negative test is not enough.
You cannot register for this event here on our website; you must register on our meetup page for this event.
We look forward to seeing you there!
