About the Event
Greetings and welcome to Berlin Stoics!
Today we're organizing a presentation for those interested in getting a basic introduction to Stoicism. This is a level 1 event, which means you don't need any background knowledge of the philosophy or experience with its practices. Please consult the details on what level 1 means here: https://www.berlinstoics.com/event-organization.
The presentation will last 40 minutes and afterwards there will be a 20 minute Q&A session.
Steve will be facilitating the presentation; he's the principal organizer of Berlin Stoics and expects to make this presentation once a month. If you can't make it today, you can always make it the next month! This will always be done on a Monday. The presentation covers a broad history of the philosophy since antiquity, some of the major thinkers and Stoic practitioners throughout the ages, what are Stoicism's core principles and why it's often treated as a psychological framework as much as a philosophy, what are some of the common myths about Stoics, and how is the modern incarnation of Stoicism different from its classical conception.
The link to this event will be active between 20 and 10 minutes ahead of the start time, and we use https://meet.jit.si/ for our video conferencing. The particular link will ultimately be meet.jit.si/BerlinStoicsIntro. The virtual event will not be recorded.
We look forward to seeing you there!
